Doha's Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning is working on designs for 55 new parks in Qatar.

Mohammed Ali Al Khouri, director of public parks, said the parks will set new standards and be designed to international specifications for all services and facilities - including free internet.

The department is also working to develop and rehabilitate parks to ensure quality of services, Al Khouri revealed on Al Rayan Channel's Taraheeb programme.

A flowers and seeding selling service has also been planned for park owners in a bid to help them achieve the dream of a Green Qatar.

As part of its awareness efforts, the department organises regular school visits to learn about the importance of agriculture and the need to maintain plants.
