With just days to go before the Construction Week Awards 2015 nominations deadline, the CW team outlines everything you need to know about the nominations process and awards categories

The Construction Week Awards 2015 nominations deadline is fast approaching. All entries must be submitted online by Wednesday, 14 October, 2015.

The 11th annual CW Awards will take place in Dubai, UAE on 9 December, 2015. The awards, which have grown into the foremost event celebrating the achievements of the Middle East’s construction industry, will recognise and reward individual excellence, corporate prowess, and project success.

If you haven’t already thrown your hat in the ring, the chances are that you’re currently putting the finishing touches to your entries. So before you press ‘submit’, take time to read through the CW team's last-minute guide to nominations success.

The ‘get online’ section (below) offers a step-by-step guide to the nominations procedure, whilst 'up for grabs' (page 42) will help you to identify the categories for which your partners and projects could scoop a coveted Construction Week Award.

All nominations must be submitted via www.constructionweekonline.com/awards before Wednesday, 14 October, 2015, so there’s no time to lose.

How to nominate:

1. Click "Submit Nominations" on the Construction Week Awards homepage: www.constructionweekonline.com/awards

2. Click ‘Choose Category’ and make your selection

3. Complete nomination details, such as the name of company or person you are nominating

4. In your submission, be sure to include details, in under 500 words, detailing why your entry deserves to win over others

5. Click on ‘Submit’ button to complete the process

6. An automatic message will confirm that your nomination has been submitted, and a confirmation e-mail will be sent to you

7. E-mail supporting documents in a single PDF file to: cwawards@itp.com

Company Awards

Contractor of the Year

The award for Contractor of the Year will go to the company that can demonstrate the best record of progress and delivery for its clients, whilst maintaining an exemplary HSE record and showing signs of commercial strength and growth over the last 12-month period.

Consultant of the Year

Consultant of the Year will be awarded to the construction consultancy that is able to demonstrate the best record of delivering innovative, original, and consistent expertise over the previous 12-month period.

Sub-Contractor of the Year

The award for Sub-Contractor of the Year will go to the company that can demonstrate the best record of progress and delivery for its clients, whilst maintaining an exemplary HSE record and showing signs of commercial strength and growth over the last 12-month period.

Project Awards

Infrastructure Project of the Year

The award for Infrastructure Project of the Year will go to the project that makes an important contribution to its surroundings, demonstrates construction best practice, and can show how construction techniques and technology have contributed to the project’s success. The majority of the project work should have been brought to completion over the last 12 months.

Tower Project of the Year

The award for Tower Project of the Year will go to the project that demonstrates construction best practice, can demonstrate an exemplary safety record, and that has met client requirements whilst remaining on schedule and within budget. The tower should have been structurally completed in the last 12 months.

Sustainable Project of the Year

The award for Sustainable Project of the Year will go to the project that demonstrates the most significant contribution to sustainable development over the last 12 months. Entries must clearly show how the nominated project has delivered sustainable initiatives or ideas that are making a contribution above and beyond the norm for its type.

Hospitality Project of the Year

This category is open for any hospitality or tourism-related project that has been completed within the last 12 months. The award will go to the project that demonstrates construction best practice, can demonstrate an exemplary safety record, and that has met client requirements whilst remaining on schedule and within budget.

Commercial Project of the Year

The award for Commercial Project of the Year will go to the project that makes an important contribution to its surroundings, demonstrates best practice, and can show how construction techniques and technologies have contributed to its success. The majority of the project work should have been brought to completion over the last 12 months.

Initiative Awards

Sustainability Initiative of the Year

The award for Sustainability Initiative of the Year will go to the company, operating in the construction sector, which has delivered the best sustainability initiative in the GCC. The winning scheme will help to advance environmental considerations in construction, whilst also demonstrating clear and practical applications. The initiative must have been active in the last 12 months.

Health and Safety Initiative of the Year

The award for Health and Safety Initiative of the Year will go to the company, operating in the construction sector that has delivered the best health and safety initiative in the GCC. The winning initiative will help to advance HSE consciousness in construction, whilst also demonstrating clear and practical applications and results. The initiative must have been active in the last 12 months.

CSR Initiative of the Year

The award for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative of the Year will go to the company, operating in the construction sector, which can demonstrate the best active CSR programme. The initiative must contribute to the welfare of local communities, to the development of the firm’s employees, and to the enhancement of its reputation. The programme must have been active in the GCC in the last 12 months.

Individual Awards

Construction Executive of the Year The award for Construction Executive of the Year will go to the senior executive who can demonstrate the greatest impact on his or her construction-related business in the last 12-month period. The winning executive could be a general manager, managing director, related deputy, or someone from a ‘C’ suite role. Their company may be operating in any part of the construction chain.

Engineer of the Year

The award for Engineer of the Year will go to the engineer who can demonstrate the greatest impact on his or her construction-related business in the last 12-month period. The winning engineer could be working in any part of the construction chain.

Project Manager of the Year

The award for Project Manager of the Year will go to the project manager who can demonstrate the greatest impact on a project or projects in the last 12-month period.

Lifetime Achievement Award (editorial selection: no entries)

The Construction Week editorial team will present the lifetime achievement award to an individual who stands out in the industry.
