Hill International and the CIOB have announced that the Masterclass educational series will return to Qatar from 16-17 November at the Hilton Doubletree, Doha Old Town.

The Masterclass aims to cut the risk of dispute and help understand how legal and technical advances can aid the management of projects for best financial success.

Disputes in construction is not a new thing - in the GCC region, the Dubai Metro had around $2-3billion worth of disputed payments.

While, in Qatar the escalation in cost of the Pearl GTL project from $5bn to $24bn caused some serious disputes.

Stuart Wilks of Hill International reckons understanding how to resolve disputes in various different forums, countries and jurisdictions is key.

He said: "The Masterclass provides a unique opportunity to work with local coampies and clients and share the knowledge and understanding that we have over a period of many years.

"We hope that by attending the event, attendees will be able to seek better advice earlier, understand the risks they face, and ultimately reduce the number of disputes which arise in our industry."
