Alba records 2.9% rise in production in Q3 2015

Aluminium Bahrain announced its production increased by 2.9% in the third quarter of 2015 despite significant drops in London Metal Exchange prices.

The company, which owns one of the largest smelters of the lightweight metal, said production during the third-quarter stood at 240,351 tonnes. 

Sales also rose from 238,862 tonnes to 238,922 tonnes in the same period of 2014, the company revealed on Sunday, October 11, in a bourse statement. 

Meanwhile, benchmark London Metal Exchange prices fell to six-year lows towards the end of September, a near 20% drop from a year earlier. 

In June, Alba won government approval for a planned $3.5 billion expansion that will boost its output by more than 50%

The company will release its full third-quarter results on Nov. 11.
