Siemens awarded contract by Dubai Airports
The company will provide operation and maintenance services for baggage and material handling systems at the international airport
Simens Postal, Parcel & Airport Logistics has been awarded a contract by Dubai Airports to provide operation and maintenance (O&M) services.
Covering Terminal 1, 2 and 3 of Dubai International, the company will oversee baggage and material handling systems, including the recently established system at the Dubai Flower Centre.
The contract will cover a period of several years and is coupled with the option for further extension.
Michael Reichle, CEO of Siemens Postal, Parcel & Airport Logistics, beamed: “We are proud of the new order and the trust our customer places in us. Siemens and Dubai Airports count on a long business relationship as Siemens constructed and expanded the baggage and cargo handling systems across the entire airport.”
The O&M contract will utilise a performance-based scheme across all areas of operation. This includes operational support, preventive and predictive maintenance, trouble-shooting and permanent improvements. Additionally, Siemens’ staff will collaborate closely with the team from Dubai Airports.
The arrangement boasts many advantages for Dubai Airports, particularly for enabling a strategic approach to delivering re-engineering benefits, energy savings and cost reductions.
Commenting on the awarded contract, Chris Garton, executive vice president of Operations at Dubai Airports, shared: “Our focus on customer service and operational excellence played a crucial role in choosing a professional long-term service partner for our baggage and material handling systems.”
“We trust this partnership with Siemens will continue to make a major contribution to our strategic goals,” he concluded.
