Abu Dhabi International Airport, which is currently being sized up through the construction of the Midfield Terminal Building (MTB), is on track for its opening in July 2017.

Operator Abu Dhabi Airports announced the MTB project is expected to be 70% complete by the end of 2015.

Once MTB is operational, the airport's overall capacity will increase to 45 million passengers per year.

The $2.2bn (AED10.38bn) terminal is being constructed by a joint venture comprising Arabtec, Consolidated Contractors Company, and TAV.

Earlier this month, HE Ali Majed Al Mansoori, chairman of Abu Dhabi Airports, said: “As the MTB building structure takes shape and its presence can be seen on the city’s horizon.
