Xylem produces four millionth pump, for Muscat

Pump makers deliver milestone Flygt wastewater pump at Swedish facility ahead of delivery to Oman

Xylem has produced its four millionth Flygt wastewater pump at its manufacturing facility in Sweden.

The pump will support the central pumping station in Muscat, Oman, which moves wastewater some eight kilometres to the Al Ansab treatment plant in the Middle Eastern state.

The milestone 500kW pump stands 2.85m high, weighs 5,300kg and has the capacity to pump 500 litres per second at 66.9m head, monitored by Flygt’s system for operational safety and data review.

“This central pumping station is a crucial part of the sewage system in Oman. We need reliable and robust pumps to ensure that we provide a dependable service,” explained Saud Salim Ambusaidy, senior maintenance manager at Haya Water.

“Since 2006, Xylem has supported us to do this and we are confident that the company will continue to facilitate an efficient water service into the future.”

The first ever Flygt pump was manufactured at Xylem’s factory in Emmaboda, Sweden. Today, Xylem’s Flygt pumps are also produced at sites in China, India, the United States and Argentina.
