ArquitectonicaGEO mulls opening of nursery in Egypt
Florida, US-based firm in talks with the Ministry of Environment on the possibility of setting up a nursery to help with the supply of plants for a resort project in Sharm El Sheikh.
US landscape architecture practice ArquitectonicaGEO is investigating the possibility of establishing a nursery in Egypt to support a resort project it is working on in Sharm El Sheikh.
The Florida, US-based firm said it is in talks with the Ministry of Environment on the possibility of setting up a nursery to help with the supply of plants for the Karnak resort.
"We hope by the end of the year we can start with a nursery in Sharm for that specific project,"? said Margarita Blanco, director at ArquitectonicaGEO.
The nursery would specialise in native plants, in line with the firm's commitment to sustainability, she added.
"All [our] designs are sustainable designs, so we need a lot of native plant material. We have to start by setting up our own nursery to provide for these huge projects,"? she said.
A subsidiary of architecture firm Arquitectonica, ArquitectonicaGEO proclaims a strong commitment to producing environmentally sensitive design.
Based in the US but with a presence in the UAE through its parent company, which has an office in Dubai, ArquitectonicaGEO has a rapidly growing portfolio in the GCC.
Projects it is working on elsewhere in the region include the W Hotel in Dubai Festival City.
