MEP Awards 2015: Jamie Darragh wins Young Engineer

Jamie Darragh of Black & White Engineering was crowned Young Engineer of the Year at the 2015 MEP Middle East Awards held on Wednesday 18 November at the Park Hyatt in Dubai.
In what was a hotly-contested category, the judges said that Darragh stood out from his peers.
One judge described him as having a brilliant range of experience for a young engineer and an ambassador for future generations of young industry professionals. Another noted his consistent record of achievement.
Darragh, principle engineer - electrical, said: “I’m surprised to win to be honest but I’m also very happy. I have been hear in Dubai nearly two years now and loved every minute of it and I feel that I have grown with the business. I’m now looking to progress professionally and push the boundaries even further in the work that I do. I feel that I am in the right place to do this because of the scale and diversity of the projects we undertake.”
Highly commended in this category was Ramboll’s Rana Itani. The remainder of the shortlist consisted of Mohammed Mubashir Ali (Arabian MEP Contracting), Amr Selim (KEO International Consultants), Jaques Roy Liesegang (Alemco), and Stephen Dwyer (Ted Jacob Engineering Group).
An independent panel of judges six judges (with MEP Middle East having the deciding vote in the case of a tie) made up of industry professionals from across the GCC and throughout the construction sector came up with the final decision in each of the 15 categories.
