Arabian MEP Contracting CEO Vasanth Kumar was crowned MEP Executive of the Year at the 2015 MEP Middle East Awards held on Wednesday 18 November at the Park Hyatt in Dubai.

Vasanth was described by judges as a classic example of a leader with vision who drives positive changes in order to shape different approaches in the MEP business.

He was also praised for nurturing an excellent company over two decades with a series of fantastic achievements along the way.

Kumar said: “It’s been a turbulent year for most MEP contractors and consultants. But we’ve ridden the crisis by picking up selective contracts that we can deliver on time and within cost.

“Mostly medium sized projects, as the bigger the size the higher the risk. It’s no longer about trophy projects – you need the bottom line more than you need the top line. And to keep your clients happy and to look after your team.”

Highly commended was Reid Donavan of Arcadis, who has over 20 years’ experience in the industry, and has been involved in the design and construction of many renowned buildings and large-scale developments.

The other shortlisted finalists were: Steve O'Sullivan (BK Gulf), Mick Cairns (Black & White Engineering), Chandra Sekhar Reddy  (Elemec Electromechanical Contracting), Ali Kemal Pekkendir (Akfa Holding), and Bjorn Viedge (Alemco).

An independent panel of judges six judges (with MEP Middle East having the deciding vote in the case of a tie) made up of industry professionals from across the GCC and throughout the construction sector came up with the final decision in each of the 15 categories.

This year’s the event was supported by Platinum Sponsor Trimble, Gold Sponsors Famco, ALEMCO, Arcadis, SSH, and Elemecs; Silver Sponsors Betec CAD, Leminar and Rheem Manufacturing; Category Sponsors Trox, Energi People, IMI Hydronic Engineering, Faisal Jassam Trading, Beeby Anderson Recruitment (B-A-R); Entertainment Sponsor Black & White Engineering; and Social Media Sponsor Godwin Austen Johnson.
