Farnek firm signs smart homes deal with Gadgitech
UAE-based Hitches & Glitches has entered into a smart homes partnership with Gadgitech
Gadgitech ME has signed a smart homes deal with Hitches & Glitches, a UAE-based home maintenance company that forms part of Farnek Group.
Under the agreement, Gadgitech technicians will train Hitches & Glitches staff to install and service smart devices, and to communicate the benefits of smart homes.
The partnership is intended to highlight technological trends in home maintenance, and will see Gadgitech expand its sales and distribution capabilities in the Emirates.
Commenting on the thinking behind the partnership, Markus Oberlin, CEO of Farnek, said: “The cost of a smart home varies, but it is not uncommon for some householders to spend over AED500,000 ($136,000) to get their homes kitted out with the latest automated technology. With that sort of investment, these more discerning consumers will want a maintenance service to match their smart homes.
“With the popularity of smartphones and tablets that can be configured to control a whole host of devices, offering 360° solutions for those homeowners who like to be in control of their properties at all times – especially remotely – we believe this is an emerging home maintenance trend that is here to stay,” he added.
Gadgitech ME distributes electronic devices across the region through numerous distributors, including Ace, Cerrefour, Jumbo, Sharaf DG, and Plug-Ins. Initially, Hitches & Glitches will become the preferred installation partner for two of its products: ‘Withings Home’ monitoring system and the ‘Elgato Avea Lamp’. The former allows users to use mobile devices to connect to their homes, whilst the latter enables ‘dynamic light moods’ to be controlled remotely.
