US $25bn Med Gate approved

Sama Dubai's master plan for the US $25 billion (AED80 billion) Mediterranean Gate (Med Gate) project in Tunis has been approved by the Tunisian government.

Infrastructure work began last December with completion scheduled in 14 phases.

The project will house multinational firms, hotels and recreational and sports facilities.

The government of Tunisia is also constructing a highway bridge parallel to the canal, linking the Med Gate marina to the sea. The bridge will reduce the travelling distance between the capital's northern suburb and the south.

Additionally, work on the North-South flyover has already started allowing easier access to Med Gate from international airports Tunis Carthage and Enfida - Sousse Airport.

The new regional railway network and the main lines will pass through a multimodal base of public transport that will be constructed near to the project.

Sama Dubai is in the process of setting up office in Tunis to expedite the delivery of the project.
