MoU signed for China Vanke project in Masdar City
A memorandum of understanding signed between Chinese companies and the UAE's Masdar will focus on the development of an R&D facility in Abu Dhabi
The UAE's Masdar has inked memorandums of understanding (MoU) with various Chinese companies in a bid to increase project collaboration.
Masdar's MoU was signed with China Vanke, the Masdar Institute, BGI, and China Merchants New Energy Group (CNME).
State agency WAM reported the main areas of cooperation under the MoU include a joint research and development-focused real estate development between Masdar and Vanke in Masdar City, and the pursuit of renewable energy power generation opportunities with CMNE.
The MoU will also seek research, industrialisation, and commercialisation of projects in areas such as waste and water treatment, resource recycling, advanced materials, renewable energy intelligent systems, biotechnology applications in energy, robotic technology, and building/construction technology.
Projects are expected to be carried out in both the UAE and China under the purview of this MoU.
The MoU signing took place during an official visit to China by HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, who met with Chinese president Xi Jinping as well.
Dr Ahmad Belhoul, CEO of Masdar, said: "International partnerships are key to the diversification of energy sources and to enhancing innovations that will deliver renewable technologies for the UAE, the Middle East region, and for China."
