Construction boom boosts Qatar population by 8.5%

Infrastructure projects are driving the inflow of foreign workers in Qatar, pushing up the population growth of the small country by 8.5%.
The continuous inflow ensures that Qatar’s population keeps growing, breaching the 2.46 million mark by the end of November 2015.
In November 2014, Qatar's population was a little over 2.27 million, according to figures released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.
Tourism is also increasing in the country, up by 4.2% from last November, with the majority, 44.2%, from the neighbouring GCC countries.
Between January and November this year, 22,927 births were registered in the country, adding 8.7 people to every 1,000 people of the population in the country, The Peninsula reported.
Up to 2,102, died over the same period, the Ministry informed in its 23rd Monthly Bulletin issued for November 2015.
Vehicle numbers were also up, with 10,982 registered in November, 11.9% more than the number of vehicles that were registered a month earlier.
