CW Oman Awards 2016: Guide to nominations

With less than 10 weeks to go before the fifth Construction Week Oman Awards, we present a step-by-step guide detailing how you can nominate yourself or your peers for one of the 13 awards up for grabs this year

Now in their fifth year, the Construction Week Oman Awards are designed to celebrate the achievement's of the Sultanate's construction sector, recognising and rewarding individual excellence, corporate prowess, sustainable efforts, and project success.

Entries will be judged by a jury of industry experts. Winners will receive a commemorative trophy during an awards presentation and gala dinner, which will be attended by the best and the brightest from Oman's construction community. This event represents an essential networking opportunity.

So check out the categories for which your partners and projects could scoop a Construction Week Oman Award, and take a look at our step-by-step guide to nominations. All nominations must be submitted via www.constructionweekonline/cwomanawards no later than 15 February, 2015.

Company Awards

Contractor of the Year
The award for Contractor of the Year will go to the company that can demonstrate the best record of progress and delivery for its clients, while maintaining an exemplary HSE record and reporting growth over the last 12-month period.

Consultant of the Year
The award for Consultancy of the Year will go to the company that can demonstrate the best record of delivering innovative, original and consistent expertise on projects over the last one year.

Project Awards

Residential Project of the Year
The award for Residential Project of the Year will go to the development that has added significantly to Oman's built environment, in terms of design quality, build, location, and its fit with the surrounding area. The bulk of the project must have been delivered over the past year.

Infrastructure Project of the Year
The award for Infrastructure Project of the Year will go to the project that makes an important contribution to its surrounds, demonstrates construction best practice, and can show how construction techniques and technology have contributed to the project’s success. The majority of the project work should have been brought to completion over the last 12 months.

Sustainable Project of the Year
The award for the Sustainable Project of the Year will go to the development that demonstrates the most significant contribution to sustainable development over the last 12 months. Entries must clearly show how the nominated project has delivered sustainable initiatives or ideas that are making a contribution above and beyond the norm.

Hospitality Project of the Year
This category is open for any hospitality or tourism related project that has been completed within the last 12 months. The award will go to the project that demonstrates construction best practice, can demonstrate an exemplary safety record, and met client requirements whilst staying on schedule and within budget.

Commercial Project of the Year
The award for Commercial Project of the Year will go to the project that makes an important contribution to its surrounds, demonstrates construction best practice and can show how construction techniques and technology have contributed to the project’s success. The majority of the project work should have been brought to completion in the last 12 months.

Initiative Awards

Sustainability Initiative of the Year
The award for Sustainability Initiative of the Year will go to the company, operating in the construction sector, which has delivered the best sustainability initiative in Oman. The sustainability initiative must have been active in the Oman between 7 February, 2015 and 15 February, 2016.

Health and Safety Initiative of the Year
The award for Health and Safety Initiative of the Year will go to the company, operating in the construction sector, which has delivered the best health and safety initiative in Oman. The nominated health and safety initiative must have been active in Oman prior to 15 February, 2016.

CSR Initiative of the Year
The award for Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year will go to the company, operating in the construction sector, which can demonstrate the best active CSR programme, one that contributes to the welfare of local communities, to the development of the company’s employees, and the enhancement of the company’s reputation. The CSR initiative must have been active in Oman between 7 February, 2014 and 15 February, 2016.

Individual Awards

Construction Executive of the Year
The award for Construction Executive of the Year will go to the senior executive who can demonstrate the greatest impact on his or her construction-related business in the last 12-month period. Their company may be operating in any part of the construction chain, from suppliers through sub-contractors, consultants, and main contractors.

Engineer of the Year
The award for Engineer of the Year will go to the engineer who can demonstrate the greatest impact on his or her construction-related business during the course of the last 12 months.

Project Manager of the Year
The award for Project Manager of the Year will go to the project manager who can demonstrate the greatest impact on a project or projects in the last 12-month period.

Lifetime Achievement Award (editorial selection: no entries)
The Construction Week editorial team will present the lifetime achievement award to an individual who stands out in the industry. The winner will be able to demonstrate a long and successful career, full of significant milestones, plus a consistent contribution to the development of one or more organisations within the Sultanate's construction sector.

2. Click ‘Choose Category’ and make selection
3. Complete nomination details, such as name of company or person you are nominating
4. In your submission, be sure to include details, in 500 words or less, showing why your entry deserves to win over others
5. Click on ‘Submit’ button to complete the process
6. An automatic message will confirm that your nomination has been sent and a confirmation email sent to you
7. Email supporting documents in a single pdf file to cwawardsoman@itp.com
