Saudi: White Land Tax debate handed Feb deadline
The Saudi Housing ministry held three workshops across the Kingdom to discuss the preliminary draft of the White Land Tax decree
The Saudi Housing Ministry has held three workshops in Jeddah, Dammam and Riyadh to discuss the preliminary draft of the Cabinet approved White Land Tax decree.
The public are being provided with opportunities to discuss and generate feedback regarding the tax law towards completing and/or incorporating the decree’s final amendments by June 2016, announcing it in the official gazette and implementing its rules 180 days later, at or around January 17, 2017.
The ministry’s website is currently receiving opinions and views from interested parties, and the general public.
The workshops discussed defining the territories subject to the white land tax within the urban scale, determining the appropriate area for its application, identifying the availability of utility services, and dealing with repercussions on individuals and/or developers should they decide not to proceed with development following a 2-3 year grace period during which they can submit plans and designs to the ministry.
The Housing Ministry has put a February 7, 2016 deadline for receiving feedback and reaching consensus on these and other white land tax issues.
