UK: LIA to launch new laboratory facility
Based in Teldord, the Lighting Industry Association’s facility will house the latest testing equipment for lighting systems
The Lighting Industry Association (LIA) is set to officially launch its new laboratory facility on 8 March 2016.
The launch event is expected to draw a number of local VIPs, which include LIA President Alasdair McRury (Holophane) and Councillor Leon Murray MBE, Mayor for Telford and Wrekin. Steve K Davies, LIA CEO, will head the official launch.
Located in Telford, UK, the facility, which was funded in part through the Government’s Regional Growth fund, will serve as a national testing asset for the entire lighting industry.
Roughly 12,500 sq ft in size, the laboratory will be the largest facility of its kind in Europe, and is expected house the latest testing equipment for lighting systems. Coupled with a certification service, the facility is expected to help grow exports, while also helping to improve product compliance.
The certification service will offer a number of schemes aimed at strengthening product quality and competiveness within the market.
Starting with 20 staff and technicians, LIA hopes that within two years, the facility’s staff size will reach over 60 personnel.
LIA’s laboratories are certified to the National Certification Body’s ISO 17025, and ISO 17065 product certification standards.
