Pre-Ramadan tests for Haramain high speed rail

The Haramain high speed rail project will witness operational tests between Jeddah and Rabigh stations as well as parts of the tracks between Jeddah and the holy city of Mecca before Ramadan, reported the Riyadh daily.

Tests between Rabigh and Madina were carried out earlier.

The paper witnessed the erection of electric poles, the installation of tracks along these routes and the completion of works at all stations except for King Abdul Aziz International Airport (KAIA) which is still in progress.

The high speed rail project spans 453 kilometers and links Madina and Mecca via KAEC, Rabigh, Jeddah and KAIA.

The project will handle 160,000 passengers daily in both directions with trains travelling at speeds of 300 km/hr.
