Dur Hospitality has announced the start of construction work on a major new hotel and apartments complex in the Diplomatic Quarter of Riyadh.
The $69m (SAR259) project, located in the heart of Riyadh is scheduled for completion in 2018, Arabian Business reported.
Under the patronage of Prince Faisal bin Bandar, Dur Hospitality celebrated laying the foundation stone of the Riyadh Marriott Hotel Diplomatic Quarter and Marriott Executive Apartments Riyadh Diplomatic Quarter.
The 5-star hotel, featuring 80 rooms and 140 executive apartments, will be a fully-serviced property located on a 25,000 sqm plot of land.
The property will also feature a restaurant, banquet hall with a 400-guest capacity, fitness centre and a parking lot.
Alex Kyriakidis, president and managing director for Middle East & Africa, Marriott International, said: "We continue to see huge potential for growth in the kingdom, and today's ceremony to lay the first foundation stone in our next property, in partnership with Dur Hospitality, is testament to this.
"The location of this property is strategic and will attract both business and leisure guests, as it sits in the heart of Riyadh."
