Omran eyes $1bn+ investors at Oman Economic Forum
The event will likely boost investor interest in Omran's upcoming $800m Madinat Al Irfan Urban City and $1.3bn Mina Sultan Qaboos Waterfront projects
Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) confirmed it will participate in the upcoming Oman Economic Forum, to be held on 23 and 24 March.
Omran's presence at the event will focus on its upcoming Madinat Al Irfan and Mina Sultan Qaboos Waterfront projects.
Madinat Al Irfan Urban City is located near Muscat International Airport, and comprises commercial buildings, malls, district cooling plants, hotels, recreational facilities, and residential developments.
The project's first phase includes the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, and is set for opening in Q4 2016.
Omran, which will invest $800m (OMR308.1m) in the project, is outlining the master plan for the remaining phases.
Elsewhere, the Mina Sultan Qaboos Waterfront project is an integrated mixed-use development, which Omran says has been developed based on Palm Jumeirah in Dubai and the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa.
It was previously revealed that Omran is reportedly targeting $1.3bn (OMR500m) investments for the Mina Sultan Qaboos development.
Remarking on Omran's participation in the forum, Salah Al Ghazali, the company's chief investment officer, said: "This forum will be a good platform to discuss the Sultanate’s plan for economic diversification and investment opportunities across various sectors.
"It is a key indicator of how Omran, in line with the government’s ninth Five-Year Plan and its national tourism strategy, is working closely with the private sector to develop unique tourist and real estate destinations, and innovative urban communities.”
