8-phase traffic diversion at Al Thumama Junction
Qatar's Public Works Authority will be implementing temporary road closures as part of the ongoing roadworks in Doha, to alleviate traffic
Ashghal’s extensive roadworks to alleviate traffic congestion within Doha are currently in progress with the latest diversion on the E-ring planned.
In order to complete the Al Thumama Junction, which is part of the E-Ring and Najma roads development project, and lay the final asphalt layer, the Public Works Authority will apply a provisional traffic diversion at the Al Thumama Junction.
The diversion will be executed in eight phases to reduce the impact on traffic in the area, The Peninsula reported.
The first phase isn due to start on Thursday 31 March after midnight and will last until 5am on Saturday 2 April.
The remaining seven phases will be implemented during the following seven weekends, each from Thursday midnight to 5am on Saturday, with the last phase anticipated to be completed by 21 May.
During each phase, signage will be installed to indicate the closed and accessible sections of the road as only part of the junction will be closed.
The exception will be the last phase, which will require the full closure of the junction for two days.
Ashghal will install signs to advise motorists of the diversion and has urged road users to abide by speed limits and follow signs for their and others’ safety.
