Emaar Group is set to partner with Rixos on a $420m (TL1.2bn) Turkish theme park project, according to local media reports.

'The Land of Legends' theme park in Belek, Antalya, is currently being developed by Rixos Hotels - with the first stage due to open in May.

Emaar is set to take a 50% partnership in the project, according to reports in Turkish media, as cited by Arabian Business.

Commenting on the reports, Emaar's spokesperson, said: "Emaar explores opportunities with various entities as part of normal course of business.

"Appropriate disclosure are made only subsequent to finalisation of any agreements."

Built over an area of 639,110 sqm in two stages, the theme park is expected to attract 1 million tourists to Antalya's tourism sector when it's fully completed in 2021.

The first stage of the project includes a five-star hotel, retail outlets and an aqua park, all of which are built.

The hotel has 200 rooms, each of which has a 5D cinema, a double screen LED TV and PlayStation.

The aqua park will include 55 waterslides, an area for bicycles and skateboard and a walking track as well as stages for different activities.
