Transguard cleaner awarded for returning lost cash
Nisham Kunnath Valappil was recognised for returning the estimated $27,000 (AED 100,000) to its rightful owner
A cleaner attached to the Transguard Group has recently been recognised for locating and returning a bag containing roughly $27,000 (AED 100,000) in cash to its rightful owner.
In recognition of his integrity and dedication, Nisham Kunnath Valappil was awarded during the annual Transguard staff party. Valappil received the Star of the Year trophy, a cash bonus, plane ticket home, as well as an extra seven days’ holiday.
The entire episode occurred whilst Valappil conducted his daily rounds at the Dubai Festival City Mall.
Commenting during the annual festivities, Valappil said: “During my every day duties at the mall I found a bag in the male prayer room. I immediately contacted my supervisor and together we realised that someone had left a great deal of money.
“I’m extremely proud to have received this award from Transguard, to be recognised by the senior management team is a great honour, more importantly however is the bag was able to be returned to its owner.”
Whilst Valappil stole the spotlight during Transguard’s annual staff party, fellow employee Muhammed Samar Shaheen was also recognised for integrity while on the job.
Serving as a loader at Dubai International Airport, Shaheen also came across a significant portion of money, which he promptly returned to its owner. Shaheen was similarly awarded with a trophy and a cash bonus for his efforts.
Greg Ward, managing director, Transguard Group, said: “At Transguard we are committed to ensuring employee well-being and happiness is at the core of our business model. Our employees are our most valuable asset so we prioritise a wide range of activities throughout the year from sporting events to singing competitions to yoga classes and popcorn and movie nights.”
