Construction in 2016 for DIFC's $130m Gate Avenue
Details about the construction team behind Dubai International Financial Centre's recently launched 6.1ha mixed-use Gate Avenue project have emerged
Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) announced the launch of its mixed-use $129.3m (AED475m) Gate Avenue development.
The 6.1ha (660,000sqf) project will feature more than 150 retail outlets, as well as a mosque.
DIFC said the development will link a network of residential and commercial buildings across its 44.5ha (110 acre) district.
Construction of Gate Avenue will begin this year, and will be completed by the end of 2017.
DIFC's Property Development team will oversee project development, and manage Gate Avenue's commercial and retail facilities.
RMJM has designed the project, which will include 1,100 parking spaces.
Remarking on the launch, Essa Kazim, governor of DIFC, said: "The announcement of Gate Avenue at DIFC is a significant step towards accomplishing our 2024 growth strategy that paves the way for the sustained development of the Centre.
"The project will be a significant value-add for professionals and residents currently working and living in the district, and create an even more attractive proposition for prospective clients and tenants, as we build on our already world-class infrastructure platform," he added, according to Gulf News.
