Alfarda Properties has been recognised by Qatar's National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) for the success of its energy efficiency initiative across its projects.

Al Gassar Resort, an Alfardan Elite Collection property, nabbed first place within the residential Tarsheed Conserving Building Competition. The resort beat out competition due to the introduction of several energy conservation technologies on site.

These include the implementation of a district cooling plant, the deployment of motion detection sensors in public areas, as well as introduction of a grey water treatment plant.

Omar Alfardan, president and CEO of Alfardan Group, shared: “Alfardan Group has played an active role in cultivating the business landscape of Qatar through its wide range of premiere developments. We aim to provide unparalleled developments with consistent and quality services that address the comprehensive needs of our distinguished clientele.

“Our dedication falls in line with our steadfast pledge to work towards the coordinated and pioneering sustainability program and accomplish the goals set forth by the Qatar National Vision 2030.”

In 2015, Alfardan Properties inked a partnership agreement with KAHRAMAA to collaborate on projects aimed at achieving national goals for water and electricity conservation.

The Tarsheed Annual Celebration, which includes the Conserving Building Competition, recognises buildings that implement best practices for resource conservation. Since its founding, the national initiative has successfully reduced per capita of Electricity and Water consumption by 14% and 17%, respectively.

Furthermore, the programme has effectively saved roughly up to $219mn by the close of 2015.
