Palm Jumeirah's Atlantis resort is set to undergo a $100m revamp.

The Atlantis the Palm is set to spend around $100m "or even more" on renovation works eight years after the opening of the hotel, according to a senior executive at the resort.

Speaking to our sister publication Arabian Business, Serge Zaalof, managing director of Atlantis, said a full renovation of hotel rooms will take place - as well as the launch of a new "family and children activity project".

The hotel is currently in the mock-up stages to finalise the new room designs.

In 2014, Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) and Kerzner International unveiled plans for the $1.4bn Royal Atlantis Resort and Residences

Located on the crescent of The Palm, next to the Atlantis the Palm, the 46-storey resort will feature 800 guest rooms and 250 luxury residences.

Earlier this year, Ssangyong Engineering & Construction confirmed that it had secured the contract to build the resort.

The South Korean construction outfit will conduct construction work in conjunction with Besix subsidiary, Six Construct.

The project is scheduled to complete by 2018.
