Saudi official proposes 65km Bahrain, Qatar roads

Two causeways, linking Saudi with Qatar and Bahrain, have reportedly been proposed for construction by the head of Al Ahsa Municipality

A Saudi politician has reportedly called for the construction of two causeway to link Qatar and Bahrain with Saudi Arabia. 

Adel Bin Mohammad Al Melhem, head of Al Ahsa Municipality, said the causeway between Al Ahsa and Bahrain would be 40km long, and located 100km from the existing road connection between both Kingdoms, the 26km King Fahd Causeway. 

This causeway would be 380km away from Saudi capital Riyadh. 

A second causeway, spanning 25km and 70km from the proposed link with Bahrain, would link Saudi with Qatar. 

This causeway would be situated 425km from Riyadh, Saudi daily Okaz reported, according to Gulf News

Al Melhem's remarks came at a region-wide municipal conference, hosted in Doha, titled 'The Role of Municipalities in Achieving Sustainable Development'.
