Belzona tackles repairs at Saudi Aramco Airport
One of the firm’s polymer repair systems were deployed on critical repairs at Saudi Aramco Airport.
Hajjan Trading & Industrial Services deployed a polymer repair system to address damages to the concrete floor and expansion joints at Saudi Aramco Airport.
Damaged areas comprised of 40 different locations across the airport, which include aircraft taxiways and ramps. It is estimated that approximately 400 metric tonnes of vehicles and aircraft traversed the locations, roughly 270 times a day.
Addressing the issues on site, the team from Hajjan Trading & Industrial Services deployed the use of Belzona 4111 across a number of concrete areas, while expansion joins were repaired with Belzona 2221.
Though the repair was completed over a period of 126 days, the quick cure time of Belzona’s systems, two to three days instead of 28 days, allowed repaired areas to be reactivated quickly.
Bobby Satheesh, QA/QC Manager at Hajjan Trading & Industrial Services, explained: “The two component epoxy resin system, Belzona 4111, contains selected quartz particles to create an extremely durable rebuilding material with a compressive strength.”
He added: “For the expansion joints, Belzona 2221, a tough polyurethane resin with outstanding flexible properties was applied. This material will accommodate high levels of movement and enable the expansion joints to successfully absorb any shock or impact and return to their original shape undamaged.”
