A $816.7m (AED3bn) stadium is set for construction in Dubai's Al Aweer locality.

Dar Al Handasah has been picked as the project's consultant, while Perkins+Will is its main contractor.

The 60,000 seat-strong stadium will include a training hall, a 5,000-space car park, a sports museum, and conference halls.

Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum recently inspected various models of the project.

He was briefed by Matar Al Tayer, deputy chairman of Dubai Sport Council.

The stadium will be the world's first fully air-conditioned and raised off the ground stadium.

The stadium design complies with FIFA's standards, Dubai Media Office reported.
