The twitter account of Saudi Projects posted pictures of the new mass transport buses to be used in Riyadh, according to daily Al Riyadh.
The modern Mercedes buses, which connect to the Riyadh Metro, were delivered by Saptco Saudi as part of a consortium tender for $2.09bn (SAR7.86bn) won in 2014.
This included the operation and maintenance over a 10-year period following a two-year commissioning period.
The King Abdul Aziz public transport contract stipulates the supply of 1,000 European made buses of various sizes and seating capacities.
Commissioning will begin in the fourth quarter of 2016 and will span three phases - each covering a 6 month period.
The service will be operated over three Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines covering 85km, two rings covering 83km and 17 main routes to connect inner city residences covering 421km - in addition to 70 feeder lines.
