The chiefs of Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Municipality (DM) recently convened to discuss collaboration opportunities between both organisations.

RTA director-general HE Mattar Al Tayer, and DM director-general Eng Hussain Nasser Lootah, are said to have pondered means of "streamlining" operations on their future projects.

Both parties discussed methods to expedite the process of issuing no-objection certificates (NOCs) for projects carried out by DM, and accelerating the completion of a sewage network under construction at Al Khawaneej in order to allow RTA commence road projects in the area.

RTA officials reviewed the sewage, rainwater, and ground water drainage tunnel near Al Maktoum International Airport, and urban communities in the surroundings that span 400 sqkm.

In addition, DM's delegation studied the projects RTA plans to impelment in the near future that are related to both entities, Dubai Media Office announced.

Among these projects is the Improvement of Al Wasl and Jumeirah Streets Project, which was endorsed by Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The project involves the construction of four-lane roads to divert traffic movement on Jumeirah and Al Wasl streets into a clockwise and one-directional movement.

DM's delegation also reviewed the Al Shindaga Traffic Hub project, which is situated at the crossing of Dubai's Sheikh Rashid Street and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street.

Remarking on the discussions, Al Tayer said: "RTA and DM share roles are responsibilities that serve their common goals are strategies.

"Such joint cooperation of the two parties has streamlined the difficulties encountered and ensured the smooth processing of transactions."
