Orpic signs deals for $2.5m Liwa Cultural Centre

Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries (Orpic) signed construction contracts for the Liwa Cultural Centre with Wahat Khat al Shamal Trading Company at Sohar Industrial Port in the North Al Batinah.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Sheikh Said bin Humaid al- Harthy, Wali of Liwa, Shamis bin Khalid al- Raisi, Member of Majlis A’Shura in the Wilayat of Liwa, and a number of officials in the Wilayat of Liwa.

The project is implemented on a total area of 6,423 sqm, and a building area of 2,740 sqm in the centre of the Wilayat of Liwa.

It will contain a planetarium, a public library, educational centre, a small museum, and a multi-purpose hall.

The project cost will be around $2.5m (OMR1m), in translation of Orpic's commitment to sustainable social responsibility towards the local community, and in co-operation with the Ministry of Heritage and Culture and the Office of the Wali of Liwa.
