Averda helps launch smart recycling centre in GCC
Averda worked closely with the Municipality of Dubai to commission the first smart recycling centre in Dubai
The Municipality of Dubai, in close collaboration with Averda, have commissioned the first smart recycling centre in the GCC.
Located in Al Manara Center parking in Dubai, the project is the first of its kind across the region.
The smart recycling centre comes equipped with a number of advanced technologies.
These include solar panels for energy efficiency and minimising the environmental impact, as well as intelligent relay sensors embedded into the recycling bins.
Each compartment will monitored remotely and once the bins are near to maximum capacity, a collection vehicle is sent out to collect the recyclables.
Additional features includes automated fire extinguishers, as well as building design constructed with eco-friendly materials.
Oussama Natour, MD, Averda- UAE said: “Although there are certain countries in the world that currently use solar panel operated recycling stations, until today there were none in the UAE.
He added: “We are fully committed to increasing recycling awareness in Dubai and are extremely proud and honoured of our achievement. We can only hope that Averda will contribute to Dubai being recognised as a leader in MENA Region in terms of its approach to waste recycling.”
Following the launch of the smart recycling centre in Al Manara, Avera and Dubai Municipality will continue to collaborate to launch similar centres across the rest of the emirate.
