Technip in deal on Saudi ethylene cracking furnace

Firm will provide basic engineering and proprietary equipment for an ethylene cracking furnace project in Jubail

Technip has been awarded contract to provide basic engineering and proprietary equipment for an ethylene cracking furnace project in Saudi Arabia.

The firm will work at the Saudi Kayan petrochemical complex in Jubail.

Technip's operating centre in Milton Keynes, UK, will execute the project, which is scheduled for completion in 2017.

Stan Knez, president, Technip Stone & Webster Process Technology, said: "As the largest ethylene licensor and contractor, Technip is pleased that our USC furnace technology was selected for this important ethylene expansion project. The technology has an outstanding track record with more than 60 installations for gas cracking in the last decade.”

)Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Company is an affiliate of SABIC, a public company based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with 70% of the company shares owned by the Saudi Arabian government and 30% held by private investors.
