Number of expats in Oman construction revealed

The total number of expat workers in the sultanate rose by 1% to 1.76 million in April compared to March 2016, the National Centre for Statistics and Information confirmed

The total number of expatriate workers in Oman recorded a 1% monthly rise in April 2016. 

Up to 1,747,097 expats worked in Oman at the end of March 2016, and this number rose to 1,763,710 at the end of April. 

A report issued by the sultanate's National Centre for Statistics and Information revealed that expatriate workers in the country are distributed across three sectors: government, private, and family. 

Oman's construction sector involved the largest number of expatriate workers at the end of April, totaling 652, 439 workers, while 199,725 workers were counted in the country's manufacturing sector. 

A majority of the country's expatriate workers are Indians.

The number of Indian expats working in the Sultanate reached 687,592 at the end of April.
