A recently hosted HR roundtable by Dulsco in Qatar, part of its Thought Leadership Series, found that employee engagement was a critical factor in the overall growth of Qatar’s corporate sector.

The first forum hosted by the HR and waste management company in Qatar, the platform drew a number of senior leaders from a variety of sectors. This included representatives from manufacturing, retail, construction, oil & gas, and IT.

The roundtable was moderated by Elizabeth Kumar, learning manager at Qatar Shell.

Commenting on the event, Joseph Mathew, director Dulsco Qatar, said: “Employees are one of the most valuable assets for any organisation. They need to be engaged and managed well for the success of any organisation.”

He added: “Such interactive workshops are necessary to learn from the industry peers and share best practices.”

Revelations from the event include a need for transparency during recruitment, which entails setting the right level of expectation with prospective employees, as well as the necessity for an induction programme.

A number of best practices were also highlighted, such as management spending time in the field, to the implementation of strategic initiatives at the board level.

“The participants truly believed that if few of the points that were discussed at the forum are implemented, sustained and monitored for impact, HR function can move from being transactional to transformational,” added Mathew.
