Emirates Central Cooling Systems (Empower) will host the IDEA International District Cooling Conference in Dubai this year.
The event will mark the second time in as many years that Dubai will host the event.
The announcement was made at the conclusion of the 107th International District Energy Association (IDEA) Annual Conference and Trade Show that recently concluded in Minnesota, US.
Sessions planned for the three-day event will focus on the development of district cooling technologies and best practices for the MENA region, WAM reported.
Remarking on the development, Ahmed bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: "Our achievements are clearly recognised by hosting this global conference in Dubai, since choosing the emirate as a venue for holding a specialised conference of this scale is a evidence of the international vote of confidence on the advancement of the district cooling industry in Dubai.
"This conference supports Dubai Plan 2021 that aims to build a smart and sustainable city that enjoys distinctive prosperity and high quality of life.
"Hosting this conference in Dubai demonstrates the advancement of the local energy sector that always strives to adopt latest practices as far as creativity, innovation, and organisational frameworks are concerned.
"Selecting Dubai also shows the achievements made by the emirate towards the environment and energy efficiency," bin Shafar added.
Empower currently operates more than 1.1 million refrigeration tons (RT) across Dubai developments such as Business Bay, DIFC, Dubai Healthcare City, and Palm Jumeirah.
