Eaton unveils ePDUs suitable for <60ºC operations
The 1U and 2U enclosure power distribution units (ePDU) have been launched to service the IT sector and can be used in high-temperature IT environments
Power management company Eaton has launched a range of enclosure power distribution units (ePDU) aimed at the information technology (IT) sector.
Eaton's 1U and 2U ePDUs have been designed to optimise power distribution in both, advanced and simple IT applications.
The new range is available within the EMEA region, and offers similar benefits associated with Eaton's vertical 0U ePDUs.
These ePDUs can be used in wall-mount enclosures where no rear access is possible, have a plug retention feature, and are suitable for operation at up to 60ºC, allowing them to be used in high-temperature IT environments.
Outlining the key features of the new range, Anees Muliyattil, product line manager at Eaton Power Quality Middle East, said: "Effective power management is crucial in today’s demanding IT environments.
"But until now, providing flexible power distribution in smaller racks has been problematic. Our 1U and 2U ePDUs offer a convenient and comprehensive solution for these applications.
"They incorporate the same innovative features that have made our latest 0U ePDUs so popular, including retention for standard IEC plugs, which prevents accidental disconnection of the plugs," Muliyattil added.
Basic and metered models are available now, with switched, metered outlet, and managed models to be introduced to the range later this year.
When used with optional sensors such as the Eaton Environmental Monitoring Probe (EPM), the ePDUs can trigger environmental alerts such as excessive temperature or humidity, and initiate disaster recovery policies, including the automatic migration of virtual servers to a backup site or the gradual shutdown of the system to protect mission critical loads.
