Can GCC's young FM professionals find jobs online?
Employers must expose themselves to tools such as LinkedIn if they are to expand their talent pool
Employers must capitalise on social media and online job boards in order to expand their talent pool.
Recruiters must pay more attention to the work experience and projected capabilities of young professionals, Jade Thompson, account manager at Transguard Group, told fmME.
Thompson manages an annual portfolio worth $2.7m (AED10m) at Transguard, and was crowned 2016 fmME Awards’ Young Facilities Manager of the Year this May.
During a conversation with fmME about her career choices and management strategies, Thompson outlined how she made her way from the UK's FM market to the Emirates'.
“I was new to Dubai and while I’d done some research, I didn’t know the local FM market very well,” she explained.
Thompson was employed at the UK's ISS Facility Services prior to Transguard Group.
Her LinkedIn profile and CV were noticed by a UAE-based FM recruitment professional, which eventually led to her appointment at Transguard.
"For me, to be selected by such a great organisation like Transguard is amazing, and I wouldn’t necessarily have applied for that position because I may not have known I would be able to do it.
"Transguard’s confidence in picking me for the position, combined with my graduate scheme and work experience, made it the perfect job role for me," she added.
