AIS invests $95m in new UAE production facility

With its new UAE production facility, the company eyes a yearly turnover of $272m (AED1 billion) starting 2016

Arab & India Spices (AIS) has invested $95 million (AED350m) in its in new production facility in Ajman.

The new UAE factory covers an area of over 400,000 sq ft. and has the capacity to process an additional 36,000 tons of lentils a year, according to Emirates 24/7.

With the introduction of the facility, the importer of food products in the Middle East and the major processor of pulses and spices sees the expansion boosting a yearly turnover of $272m (AED1 billion) starting this year.

Mohammed Al Muallam, Managing Director and Senior Vice President of DP World, inaugurated the facility in the presence of Arab & India Spices Managing Director Harish Tahiliani and Director, Vidhya Harish. 

Harish Kumar Lal Tahiliani said: “This new facility is an extended version of AIS’ existing state-of-the-art food processing plant in Ajman. AIS began in a 400 square feet facility in the UAE and now it operates a 400,000 square feet production facility extended gradually, making AIS one of the largest food production and processing facility in the region.”
