Saudi: Riyadh inaugurates its first $27m snow city
Snow City in Riyadh is the first indoor snow theme park in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
The governor of Riyadh, HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar inaugurated the first ever snow city in the Kingdom, worth $27m (SAR100m).
During the inauguration event, Snow City showcased the variety of family focused activities and entertainment that will entice visitors to this new tourism destination.
Located in the Al Othaim Mall Rabwa, in the presence of Fahd bin Abdullah Al Othaim, deputy chairman of the board – Al Othaim Holding, Saleh bin Abdullah Al Othaim, vice president – Al Othaim Leisure & Tourism Company, the French Ambassador, in addition to a number of top ranking officials, Snow City was introduced by Al Othaim Leisure & Tourism Company.
Fahd bin Abdullah Al Othaim said: "This renders it an attractive and lucrative industry that contributes to the Kingdom’s economic diversification plans in order to propel the national economy and create new jobs for Saudi nationals.
"This exciting new tourism destination is a demonstration of the company’s commitment to offering visitors and consumers the best in family entertainment that is comparable to indoor theme park venues in the region and the world. We look forward to welcoming visitors to experience an array of activities and have incredible adventures in a realistic snowy environment.”
Snow City has been constructed on a 5,000 sqm area with an hourly capacity of 350 people. It is also host to various entertainment activities offered to visitors, including 12 different activities such as a suspension bridge, ice bumper cars, sledge and ski zone, rope courses, climbing wall, snowmobiles, and many others.
Additionally, Snow City provides offers and diverse entertaining events, the city’s mascot ‘Thaluj’ the snowman, and the penguin ‘Batriqo”, will welcome and engage visitors all day long.
Moreover, an events and celebration venue has been designated at the site, including a series of popular restaurants to satisfy all tastes.
