Renault has announced its status as an official partner in France’s bid to host the 2025 World Expo.
The France-headquartered automotive manufacturer has been participating in world’s fairs since 1900, just two years after the company’s formation.
In July 1900, Renault Voiturettes were the only vehicles to compete in the Paris-Toulouse-Paris race organised by Automobile Club de France for the Universal Exposition in Paris. The firm also took part in the work of the international jury at the 1906 Exposition in Italy.
In 1935, Renault represented France at the Universal Exposition in Brussels, Belgium, with several passenger cars, including the Celtaquatre, the Nerva Grand Sport, and the Nervastella.
More recently, during the COP21 conference in 2015, Renault-Nissan Alliance provided participants with a fleet of 200 electric vehicles.
Renault mooted the possibility of renewing this type of initiative for EXPOFRANCE 2025, if the French bid is successful.
