French construction and telecommunications company, Bouygues SA, has announced strong growth in its construction and road building businesses, which were boosted by a 36% rise in profit in the third quarter

French construction and telecommunications company, Bouygues SA, has announced strong growth in its construction and road building businesses, which were boosted by a 36% rise in profit in the third quarter.

The Paris-based building-to-broadcasting conglomerate posted net income of US $476 million (EUR358 million) in the three months through to September, up from $348 million in the same period in 2005. The profit rise exceeded analysts' forecasts of $426.9 million.

The company recently raised its stake in French engineering group Alstom to just over 25%.
