The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) plans to build a new headquarters in Bausher, Muscat, a report said.

The building will have five to six floors and house offices, conference halls and an underground parking, said the local newspaper, Muscat Daily.

Construction is expected to start in the beginning of 2017 and complete by the second half of 2018.

The chamber closed the pre-qualification period for construction tenders on 31 July, and expects to announce the construction contract by the end of the year.

The report quoted an official as saying that the new building will meet the need for increased facilities and to better accommodate visiting trade delegations.
