Video: Driver reverses Mercedes over $300k Ferrari

Costly parking mishap sees a classic 1980’s Mercedes-Benz 380 SL wreck a Ferrari 458 Speciale

The latest cars from Mercedes-Benz are available with self-parking systems that can autonomously steer them into a space without hitting anything, but that didn’t help the driver of a Mercedes-Benz 380 SL from the 1980’s, who backed up into and onto the hood of a Ferrari in Virginia, USA.

The Ferrari was a limited-edition 458 Speciale, which sold for over $290,000 while it was on sale from 2013-2015 and commonly goes for over $400,000, but only when it has a clean bill of health.

The 380 SL is a slightly more affordable classic, worth $28,000, but likewise, only if it’s in perfect condition.

The aftermath of the low-speed collision was caught on camera, as was the arrival of the Italian car’s owner, and his predictably ill-tempered and immodest response.

The damage was possibly less than it could have been, however, thanks to the SL’s era-correct flexible bumpers.
