Saudi: Sheraton Makkah to open in Q4 2016
Altayyar Travel Group Holding Company is set to build Sheraton Makkah Jabal Al Kaaba, which will feature 414 rooms and serviced apartments
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has announced the signing of a new Sheraton in Makkah, which will be owned and built by Altayyar Travel Group Holding Company.
Set to open at the end of 2016, Sheraton Makkah Jabal Al Kaaba is located close to the new expansion of the holy Haram and will feature 414 rooms and service apartments, four dining restaurants, and meeting and events space.
The hotel will provide guests with special access and views of the mosque, Saudi Gazette reported.
Michael Wale, president of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Europe, Africa and Middle East, said: "Saudi Arabia remains one of our strongest growth markets in the region and we are on track to more than double our presence in the country in the next three years.
"Makkah has been a particular focus for Starwood growth, with Sheraton being one of three brands to make its entrance into the market in the next year. The property will offer pilgrims the Sheraton brand's renowned service and a comfortable hospitality experience in the holy city."
