RAK Properties completes pilot recycling scheme
A pilot scheme conducted by RAK Properties and RAK Waste Management Authority succeeded in recycling 305kg of waste at Ras Al Khaimah’s Mina Al Arab community
RAK Properties and RAK Waste Management Authority have successfully completed a recycling scheme at Ras Al Khaimah’s Mina Al Arab waterfront community.
The idea came from a group of French students involved in a six-week internship with RAK Waste Management Authority. The scheme was designed to offer a user-friendly approach to recycling food place and packaging.
The pilot initiative, which was conducted earlier this month, resulted in more than 305kg of waste being recycled by the residents of Mina Al Arab’s Lagoon Apartments.
Commenting on the pilot scheme, Paul Ashton, deputy chief executive officer of RAK Properties, said: “RAK Properties is committed to advancing its methods of waste collection within its communities, and leading by example in Ras Al Khaimah on its social and eco policies.
“The latest scheme launched with RAK Waste Management Authority at Mina Al Arab is just one element of how we are looking to develop similar projects across our portfolio within the UAE, and we will look to build on this recent success for future eco-sustainable initiatives.”
Following the success of the pilot initiative, RAK Properties has committed to the further development of a healthier environment for its residents.
“Maintaining Mina Al Arab’s eco-friendly community is paramount to RAK Properties, ensuring the environment and marine wildlife is preserved,” said Ashton.
“RAK Properties is looking to implement waste management on a permanent basis, and this lateral trial [takes us] a step closer to achieving this,” he concluded.
