Liebherr’s VarioBase LTC 1050-3.1 proves popular
Liebherr’s 50t LTC 1050-3.1 with Variobase proves versatile and delivers 15% more capacity than its predecessor
A year on from the launch of the Liebherr LTC 1050-3.1, around 60 machines are now operating on building sites around the world in testament to the popularity of the innovative mobile crane.
With Liebherr’s VarioBase load-redistribution system and a lifting capacity of 50 tonnes, the model is positioned as the ideal crane for work inside industrial buildings and low or narrow site access points.
In the presence of obstacles or floors which might be unable to withstand the pressure of the crane's outriggers, the VarioBase system allows each outrigger to be positioned individually, and allows the crane to be positioned to maximise the extension in the direction required for the operation.
It also increases the overall, horizontal reach of Liebherr mobile cranes equipped with the system.
One of the classic jobs for these compact or city cranes is installation of large machine tools, weighing up to ten tonnes, in industrial buildings or in areas with a limited set-up area.
With VarioBase, the machines can set up and achieve good reach even when it is only possible to fully extend one of the four outriggers, as long as the other outriggers can still extend a little way.
While some of its dimensions are even smaller than its predecessor, the LTC 1050-3.1 has improved upon its predecessor's lifting capacity by up to 15%.
