Qatargas security attains ISO 28000
Qatargas Security Section has achieved ISO 280000 accreditation for security operations in Ras Laffan Industrial City and Doha Head Office.
Qatargas has added yet another certification to its growing list of qualifications.
The security section from Qatargas has achieved ISO 28000 accreditation for security operations in Ras Laffan Industrial City and Doha head office.
The global security standard stipulates the criteria for a Supply Chain Security Management System, one of the key pillars in safeguarding operations.
The certification was accredited by the UK-based Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Limited (LRQA), who said: “Qatargas has become the first LNG Company in the region to achieve UKAS accredited certification of ISO 28000.”
An official from LRQA handed over the accreditation documents to Qatargas during a ceremony held last week at Qatargas Doha head office.
Qatargas has developed a strong best practice security management process to fulfill the strict criteria of the ISO 28000.
The Security Management System (ISO 28000) complements the safety, environmental and quality management systems that are already in place, and will support Qatargas in its pledge to be the World’s Premier LNG Company, while providing reliable and clean energy.
The certification comes after a number of departments and functions within Qatargas had already been certified by various internationally-acclaimed accreditation bodies.
These include the Qatargas Laboratory Division, Emergency Management Services Division, Learning and Development Department, Human Resources Department, Medical Services Division, Shipping Department, and various functions within the Safety, Environment and Quality Group.
