Qatar's Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is improving traffic flow and increasing capacity throughout Doha in a series of ongoing roadworks to enhance safety and ease congestion.

Part of the initiative involves diverting traffic on West Industrial Street between Street 15 and Street 33 starting 2 September (Friday), Ashghal has cautioned.

The road works in the area are expected to continue for six months, during which traffic will be diverted to a new parallel road with two lanes in each direction and a roundabout at Street 23.

The diversion forms part of construction works to upgrade Doha’s Industrial Area Package 1, with the intent to increase capacity, while “providing the Industrial Area with a full integrated infrastructure,” the authority informed.

The Legtaifiya (West Bay Lagoon) area will also see the completion of $16.4m (QAR60m) worth of roadworks.

Ashghal laid 4.5km of new road in the residential area between Legtaifiya Street and University Street.

The authority also upgraded the lighting, added a new pedestrian crossing facilities, and integrated an advanced drainage network in the block.
